The Florida Neighborhoods Conference, Inc. is an organization whose primary mission is to provide information and networking opportunities to our State's residents. The group was founded by neighborhood outreach staff from various Florida communities in 1996. Many of the neighborhood staff had been involved in the Neighborhoods, USA (NUSA) organization and felt that within the State we had the capacity to create a statewide network. The main effort of the collective group, known as the Florida Neighborhoods Conference State Planning Committee (SPC), was, and continues to be the hosting of the Florida Neighborhoods Conference. This is an annual event started in 1997 to bring together residents, staff and others passionate about their communities and to share successes and practices.
In 2009, the group decided to form the organization as a 501(c)3 organization to ensure the continuity of the annual conference. The 501(c)3 status has been approved by the IRS effective July 2010.
